TATAU: The flood situation in this district shows signs of receding, but the water level is still at a warning level based on the report of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) as of 11 am on Sunday.
Tatau District Officer and chairman of the Tatau District Disaster Management Committee, Calvin Ligong Endawie, went to the ground to inspect the flood situation in several affected areas including Tatau Town, Tatau New Village, and Tatau Dagang Village.
He also ascertained the condition of the victims at the Temporary Relief Centre (PPS) of SMK Tatau and assessed the need for additional assistance to the affected residents.
“We will continue to monitor this situation closely and cooperate with relevant agencies to ensure that the safety and welfare of the residents is always prioritised,” he said.
He advised residents in high risk areas to remain vigilant and adhere to the authorities’ instructions in the event of a change in the water level.
As of 11.45 am, PPS SMK Tatau is still housing 219 flood victims.
The PPS has been opened since January 29 and is now entering its 12th day of operation.
