MIRI: Floodwaters have inundated Kampung Long Bemang, along with SK Long Bemang and Long Bemang Health Clinic, following incessant rainfall and a king tide.
According to a report from the Civil Defence Force in Marudi, as of today, floodwaters have reached 1.6 feet in Kampung Long Bemang, 1.4 feet at SK Long Bemang, and 1.9 feet at Long Bemang Health Clinic.
The flooding began on Mar 7 at approximately 3 pm, triggered by rising river levels and rain since that date.
Sarawak Energy disconnected the electricity supply on Mar 9, as a precautionary measure.
A total of 565 residents from 103 households have moved to the upper floors of their homes, but no temporary evacuation centre (PPS) has been opened.
Despite the floodwaters, the school and clinic remain operational as water levels show a downward trend.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and relocate if conditions worsen. The situation remains under control and safe at this time.
