KUCHING: A local man was fined RM350, in default one week’s jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for stealing a flower pot from a restaurant and selling it for RM30 last week.
Ahmad Martino Mansor, 53, pleaded guilty to one charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code before Senior Assistant Registrar Abdurrahman Abrar Jarni.
According to court records, Ahmad stole the flower pot from outside an Indian restaurant along Jalan Matang at 4.16 pm on Nov 4.
The next day, the shop owner noticed the pot was missing while watering his plants.
CCTV footage confirmed the theft, and the police arrested Ahmad at Kampung Samariang Baru on Nov 7. He admitted to taking the flower pot and selling it for RM30. The estimated loss to the complainant was RM350.
Ahmad also has a prior offense under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Aidil Sharidan handled the prosecution, while Ahmad was unrepresented.
