Food aid delivered to flood-affected families in Miri

MIRI: Over the past two days, food aid has been distributed to flood-affected families in Kampung Pasir and Kampung Tudan Desaras Phase 6, with a total of 700 sets of food baskets and rice bags provided to those in need.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew led the distribution efforts alongside the N73 SUPP Piasau Mobile Bee service team.

This morning, he visited Kampung Pasir to deliver 300 food baskets and 300 bags of rice through house-to-house visits.

A similar distribution took place yesterday in Kampung Tudan Desaras Phase 6, where 400 food baskets and rice packs were handed out to affected residents.

The relief efforts were supported by Tong Seng Huat Rice Trading Sdn Bhd, which sponsored 300 rice bags, while Ting himself contributed 700 food baskets and 400 rice bags as a gesture of solidarity with the victims.

The distribution was carried out from 9 am to 1 pm, with volunteers and local officials joining the effort to ensure aid reached every household in need.

Speaking about the initiative, Ting expressed his hope that the assistance would help ease the burden f affected families and support them in returning to normalcy as soon as possible.

Flood victims expressed their gratitude for the aid, acknowledging the concern and support shown by the team.

Also present during the distribution were SUPP Piasau branch secretary and Miri City Council member Kelvin Chia Kah Leong, Youth chief and Miri City councillor Leslie Lau Ik Chie, Miri City councillor Lisa Yu Leh Ha, and SUPP Youth vice secretary cum private secretary to Datuk Sebastian Ting, Chia Kah Furng.
