BAU: A four-wheel drive vehicle was reported stolen from a public parking area at Tasik Biru here on Saturday (Apr 11).
Bau police chief Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the report was lodged at about 8.05pm after the owner discovered his vehicle missing from the parking area along Jalan Tasik Biru Bypass.
He said the complainant, a local businessman, had parked his green Ford Ranger at the location between 1pm and 7.30pm before it was found missing.
“The vehicle, bearing registration number QAA 2888 R, was believed to have been locked when it was left at the parking area,” he said.
He added that initial checks found the public parking area was not equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
“The vehicle, registered under a company, had no spare key or GPS tracking device. Losses are estimated at about RM50,000,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
