PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (SDAC-Ford) is planning to expand its 4WD services to smaller towns in Sarawak, aiming to enhance customer convenience and accessibility.

SDAC-Ford managing director Turse Zuhair said the company will extend its reach beyond major cities to cater to the growing demand for 4WD vehicles in the state.

“With Sarawak and Sabah’s challenging terrains, there’s a strong market for 4WD vehicles, particularly pick-up trucks,” he said during the East Malaysia Media Drive’s Live the Ranger Life event recently.

“We believe that now is the opportune moment to introduce our high-tech uniquely designed products to meet the evolving needs of customers in Borneo.”

When asked about Ford’s market position compared to other 4WD brands, Turse acknowledged that Ford caters to a niche segment of pick-up truck enthusiasts.

“Comparing us to other brands isn’t straightforward, as we focus on a specific segment of the pick-up truck market,” he said.

“Our high-end models like the Ranger Raptor, Platinum, and Stormtrak, as well as our entry-level XLT, are designed to meet the diverse needs of East Malaysian customers.”

SDAC-Ford is confident that these offerings will solidify Ford’s position in the region.
