KUCHING: A group of 40 delegates from the ‘Atlantic Council Millennium Leadership: Malaysia Study Tour 2025’ programme are in the city to explore Sarawak’s renewable energy initiatives.
As part of their two-day working visit, the delegates will also learn above the environmental conservation efforts in the state.
They also seek to highlight the state’s leadership in green energy and sustainability while fostering international and local collaborations in sustainable development.
Today’s programme includes a visit the Borneo Cultures Museum for briefings on renewable energy by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Sarawak’s hydrogen initiatives by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation Energy (SEDCE), and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s (SFC) role in protecting national parks and wildlife.
The delegates are also scheduled to tour the Chitose Carbon Capture Central C4 before heading to the Sarawak Cultural Village to experience the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Later, in the evening, the delegates will attend a state government reception at Hilton Kuching which will be graced by the presence of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Tomorrow (Feb 12), the delegation will visit an oil palm plantation, followed by lunch, before proceeding to Plants for Plastic for a roundtable discussion on environmental conservation efforts, facilitated by Sarawak Eco Warriors.
