MUKAH: Police arrested a 31-year-old foreign man for suspected drug-related activities during a raid at an oil palm plantation here on Wednesday.
Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the suspect was detained around 11:40 am by a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) of the Mukah Police Headquarters (Mukah IPD).
“During the inspection, police found a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine, with an estimated gross weight of 0.20 gramme,” he said in a statement today.
He added that a urine screening conducted on the suspect returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Rizal said the suspect, who works as an oil palm plantation labourer, has been remanded for four days until December 8 to assist investigations.
He reiterated that Mukah IPD remains committed to combating drug abuse in the district and urged the public to channel any information related to drug activities to the Mukah IPD hotline at 084-871222 or to the nearest police station.
