MUKAH: Narcotics police have arrested a foreign man believed to be involved in small-scale drug distribution activities along Jalan Pinang here yesterday (Oct 7).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 30-year-old labourer was picked up at around 2.55 pm at the staircase of a premises.
“Further checks led to the finding of 17 straw tubes and a plastic packet containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.
“The drugs were kept inside a cigarette box. It has an estimated gross weight of 8.4g and a street value of around RM840,” he said.
The suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, will be remanded for four days until Oct 12 to facilitate investigations.
Rizal stated that the case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He assured that the police remain committed to combat drug-related activities in the district.
