Foreign man held over alleged knife assault on ex-girlfriend

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign man was arrested on suspicions of hurting his former girlfriend with a knife at a private university in Subang Jaya, Selangor this afternoon.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan bin Wan Mamat said the suspect, 21, was arrested immediately after they received a report about the incident at about 6.30 pm.

“Investigations revealed that the victim, also a foreigner, 20, suffered slash wounds to the left side of her neck and she was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment and is in stable condition,” he said in a statement today.

Wan Azlan said both the suspect and the victim were students at the private university, and that the motive of the attack was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

The suspect will be remanded tomorrow, he said, and urged those with information about the incident to contact the Subang Jaya district control centre at 03-78627100 or Insp Fadizah Ajamin at 019-8582166. – BERNAMA
