KUCHING: A foreign construction worker was killed after he was hit by an alleged speeding Lamborghini Aventador along Jalan Lapangan Terbang last night (May 27).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement, said the fatal accident happened at around 6.50 pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 52-year-old victim, who was employed at the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project site, was crossing the road when the Lamborghini struck him.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to severe head injuries.
“His body was later taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem,” he said.
The 54-year-old local man, who was driving the high-end sports car towards Padungan, has been detained for further investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The offence involves causing death by reckless or dangerous driving and carries a penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine up to RM50,000, upon conviction.

He reminded road users to stay alert, drive responsibly, and obey traffic laws at all times to avoid tragic accidents.
