SIMUNJAN: Police have arrested an Indonesian man for allegedly murdering his wife and a fellow worker at an oil palm plantation here yesterday.

Simunjan police chief DSP Rafhan Kepli, when contacted, confirmed that the incident occurred between 10.30 am and 11 am at a plantation workers’ quarters.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims, a 48-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man, were both Indonesian nationals.

“The suspect, an Indonesian in his 30s, was arrested and a knife believed to have been used in the attack, was seized,” he said.

Rafhan said the female victim was the suspect’s wife, while the male victim was his colleague.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid identification document.

The public is advised not to speculate on the incident as further investigations are ongoing.
