KUCHING: Donald Lawan, former assemblyman of Bukit Begunan, was laid to rest at the Nirvana Memorial Park on Jalan Bau today (June 15).

Before the burial, a funeral service was held at St Faith’s Kuching Anglican Church, with the service led by Revd Canon Bradley Sangan.

The service, which began at around 9.20 am, was attended by family members, relatives, and friends.

During the ceremony, Lawan’s children and grandchildren also paid a moving tribute to him with a heartfelt eulogy.

Born on May 19, 1943, he passed away at the age of 81 on June 11 due to heart failure.

He was a prominent businessman who had previously served as the political secretary to the Chief Minister before becoming the assemblyman for Bukit Begunan.

Meanwhile, following his demise, Lawan’s son Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan was deeply saddened and heartbroken.

“RIP Dad, been my pillar, my strength. You left too soon,” he said in a Facebook post on June 11.
