KUCHING: The inaugural Women of Impact (WOI) Forum 2025 Driving Social Change will be held at the Borneo Cultures Museum on Nov 15 uniting Malaysia’s leading women changemakers and civil society advocates.
According to a press statement from the WOI Core Committee, the half-day event aims to spark honest conversations and collective action on key social issues such as poverty, education, animal welfare, environmental protection, and the often-unseen emotional labour carried by women within their communities.
The organisers described the WOI Forum as more than a conventional conference. Designed as a warm, candid living-room dialogue, the event seeks to honour women who work quietly behind the scenes, far from publicity or privilege, while connecting voices from civil society, government, and corporate sectors in pursuit of genuine social change.
Eight speakers and four panellists from various fields — including social entrepreneurship, humanitarian work, law, health, and grassroots activism — will share their experiences and insights.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia is scheduled to attend as Guest of Honour and deliver a special address titled “Women, Civil Society and the Government’s Role in Empowering Change.”
Centred on the theme “Driving Social Change,” the discussions will explore how to create genuine impact in a world often driven by appearances, urging participants to rethink leadership, collaboration, and authenticity while shifting from charity to sustainable reform.
The statement highlighted that the forum will feature sessions focusing on the moral strength of women leading quietly in their communities, the role of civil society in bridging systemic gaps, and the personal courage behind social impact work.
Through this initiative, WOI hopes to cultivate a deeper culture of empathy, courage, and collaboration — redefining leadership and social responsibility in building a more inclusive and compassionate Malaysia.
