SIBU: The board of trustees of the Hii Kah Tung Foundation has selected 17 school leavers to receive scholarships this year.
Its chairman, Hii Yik Ping, said the board received 31 new applications.
“Out of the total applications, 17 school leavers were selected to receive the Foundation’s scholarships this year.
“Since its establishment in 1982, up to 2024, the Hii Kah Tung Foundation has awarded scholarships to 880 students.
“Of that number, 806 have completed their studies,” he said at a press conference here yesterday (Aug 18).
According to Hii, up to 2024, the foundation has disbursed RM10,851,400 in scholarships.
He added that the foundation had also spent RM5,455,000 on donations for educational purposes as of last year.
Also present at the press conference was Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming, a trustee of the Hii Kah Tung Foundation.
