KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) have thwarted four attempts by 15 Indonesians to enter Sarawak illegally at different locations this month.
A spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division said the Indonesians, who claimed to be looking for jobs here, were deported.
The first attempt took place around 3.50pm on Oct 1 when a patrol caught three men, aged between 19 and 45, entering an area in the Tetangga Akrab plantation, Balai Ringin.
On Saturday (Oct 2), three men and a woman, aged between 22 and 47, were caught along an illegal route in Lubok Antu around 7.55pm.
The next day (Oct 3), a patrol managed to detain two men, both aged 24, at Kampung Padang Pan, Serikin around 2.30pm.
The fourth attempt saw five men and a woman, aged between 20 and 46, detained around 300m from the Malaysia-Indonesia border in Biawak, on Monday (Oct 4).
All of the 15 Indonesians did not have any valid travel documents.
Two Indonesian men were detained for entering Sarawak illegally on Oct 3 in Serikin, Bau. Soldiers caught three Indonesian men and a woman on Oct 2 in Lubok Antu. Three Indonesian men were caught entering Sarawak illegally on Oct 1 in Balai Ringin.
