SARATOK: Four projects worth RM950,000 have been approved for development in Kampung Kupang Hilir here in conjunction with the Malaysia Day 2025 celebration.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said that the projects were part of proposals submitted by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) to improve facilities needed by residents.
According to him, one of the major projects, costing RM400,000, involves upgrading village lanes and building concrete drains.
“During my visit to the ground, I saw there are still belian bridges that need upgrading for the convenience of residents.
“In addition, the construction of a resource centre costing RM350,000 has also been approved for Tabika KEMAS Kampung Kupang Hilir, which already has land endowed by villagers,” he said when officiating at the Malaysiaku Programme at Kampung Kupang Hilir.
Mohamad explained that Tabika KEMAS Kampung Kupang Hilir, for example, has been operating under a surau in poor condition.
At the same time, he stated that two more projects involve the construction of a JKKK Kupang Hilir operations room with an allocation of RM100,000.
“The operations room was approved under the federal government’s allocation through the State Development Office (SDO).
“Another project involves upgrading the village lane at the Malaysiaku Programme site. We propose to widen the road and cover the roadside drain to ensure safety.
“In total, the four new projects cost nearly RM1 million,” he said.
Mohamad urged the JKKK to prepare the necessary documents for the projects.
He also supported the villagers’ aspiration to develop idle land in Lubok Gendin and Lubok Bunut to improve the residents’ socio-economic well-being.
“I was informed by Penghulu Missis Aris about the proposal by the Agriculture Committee of Lubok Gendin and Lubok Bunut to develop the areas through government assistance.
“I fully support the matter and pray it will be approved by the government soon,” he stressed.
