KUCHING: Four people, including a child, narrowly escaped death when a tree fell onto their car along Jalan Sultan Tengah here today (Nov 5).
The Perodua Bezza carrying two women, a man and a boy was travelling along the road when the tree suddenly collapsed, crushing the vehicle’s roof.
The driver sustained shoulder injuries, while the other three passengers escaped unhurt. Members of the public rescued the victims before firefighters arrived.
A team of eight firefighters from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 2.16 pm.
Firefighters carried out cutting and clearing operations to remove the fallen tree. The operation was brought under control at 2.26pm and ended at 3.04pm.
The injured victim received first aid from Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) personnel at the scene.
