KUCHING: A fire broke out in front of the Kota Sentosa Fire Station late this evening, damaging four factories in the area.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a distress call was received at 5:56 pm, with personnel from the Kota Sentosa, Tabuan Jaya and Batu Lintang stations being deployed to the scene.
According to the department, the first factory – a car workshop – sustained about 40 per cent damage.
The second factory, which processes food products, suffered around 70 per cent destruction.
A third factory, used for refrigerator repair works, was also about 70 per cent damaged, while the fourth premises, a scrap metal processing facility, was estimated about 20 per cent damaged.
Firefighters are still conducting extinguishing operations at press time.
No casualties have been reported so far.
