LUNDU: An early morning patrol by the General Operations Force (GOF) uncovered a suspected illegal migrant entry near the Malaysia-Indonesia border along Jalan Lundu-Biawak last week.
Sarawak GOF Brigade Commander SAC Lim Bak Phai said the GOF 11th Battalion intercepted a suspicious Toyota Hilux at 6.15 am on Aug 13.
“Inside the vehicle, our team detained two men and two women, aged between 45 and 50.
“Further checks revealed that they were Indonesians and had failed to produce valid travel documents,” he said.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of RM3,050 in cash, three mobile phones, a passport, and the vehicle — all valued at RM101,050.
Lim said the detainees and seized items were handed over to the Lundu District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action.
The case is being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
