SRI AMAN: A fire broke out just after midnight today, destroying four houses and damaging two others at Jalan Setawang, Kampung Tengah.
The two houses sustained 80 per cent damaged, and firefighters managed to save three nearby houses from the flames.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation by forensic officers.
“Earlier, a distress call was received at 12.14 am, and personnel from the Sri Aman station were immediate dispatched to the scene.

“The team, upon arrival, equipped with full protective gear, launched fire suppression efforts using two hose lines — one with a breeching and two nozzles stretching 600 feet.
“A third hose line, measuring 300 feet with one breeching and two nozzles, was later deployed to support operations,” it said in a statement.
It added that water supply was sourced from a nearby fire hydrant and the engine pump.
The firefighting operation ended after there were no no remaining fire hazards.
