Four illegals nabbed, stolen motorcycle recovered

SERIAN: The General Operations Force (GOF) have arrested four undocumented Indonesians and recovered a stolen motorcycle at an oil palm plantation last Saturday (Aug 23).

Codenamed ‘Op Taring Awas/Batas’, the GOF 23rd Battalion raided two makeshift huts believed to be used as hideouts at around 5.30am on Aug 23.

Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Lim Bak Phai said four men, aged between 36 and 45, were arrested for failing to produce valid travel documents.

“Further checks led to the seizure of three motorcycles and five phones worth an estimated RM14,500.

“One of the motorcycles was confirmed stolen, with a police report lodged for the theft.”

All the suspects and seized items have been handed over to Serian district police headquarters (IPD) for further actions.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63; Section 26(1) and Section 23(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987; and Section 411 of the Penal Code.

From Jan 1 to Aug 25 this year, the Sarawak GOF Brigade has recorded enforcement success amounting to RM312.5 million, involving 326 cases, 428 arrests, and the seizure of 243 vehicles.
