Four killed after SUV hits live wire in northeastern Nepal

KATHMANDU: Four people were electrocuted and two others injured on Monday morning after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) hit a power line in Taplejung district in northeastern Nepal, local police said, according to Xinhua.

The vehicle carrying six people including the driver was en route to a local temple when it hit an electric wire and caught fire at 05.00 am local time.

“The injured are receiving treatment at a local hospital,” Bibek Basnet, spokesman for the district police, told Xinhua.

He noted that police had launched an investigation into the accident. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
