MUKAH: Four local men aged between 24 and 45 years old were arrested during ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ conducted in several locations around Kampung Judan Hilir and Kampung Tellian Ulu here on Thursday (Feb 26).
Mukah Police chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the arrests were made from 10 am onwards by a team from the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
He said a 45-year-old suspect was found in possession of a transparent straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 0.22 grammes.
Urine screening tests found three of the suspects positive for benzodiazepine, while the 45-year-old suspect tested negative.
Three investigation papers were opened under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while one case was investigated under Section 12(2) of the same Act.
The 45-year-old suspect was remanded for four days until March 3 to assist investigations, while the other three were released on police bail pending further action.
