KUALA LUMPUR: Evergreen Max Cash Capital Bhd (EMCC) has secured approval from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) for four new pawnbroking licenses covering two outlets in Pahang, one in Kuala Lumpur, and one in Perak.

EMCC is a well-established pawnbroking service provider, as well as a retailer and trader of gold and luxury products.

The four newly approved outlets are expected to commence operations in the second quarter of 2026, increasing the group’s total outlet count to more than 100 and reinforcing its strategic efforts to expand its nationwide footprint.

EMCC executive director and group managing director Datuk Low Kok Chuan said the milestone was significant to the group, given that the group was only listed on Bursa Malaysia in September 2023, when it operated only 22 outlets. “Within less than three years, EMCC has since expanded its outlet network by more than fourfold, underscoring the scalability of our business model and our commitment towards our expansion strategy,” he said in a statement yesterday.

To date, the group operates a network of 98 outlets, comprising 29 conventional pawnshops and 69 Islamic pawnshops, located across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, and Terengganu.

Looking ahead, Low said the group remains positive on its growth outlook, and elevated gold prices have resulted in healthier collateral coverage and lower default rates across its loan portfolio.

He added that EMCC would continue to maintain prudent loan-to-value ratios to manage potential price volatility. “Supported by a steadily expanding loan book, a growing nationwide outlet network, and continued confidence from financial institutions.– BERNAMA
