Four relief centres in S’wak closed as at 4pm

KUCHING: Four flood relief centres were closed as of 4pm yesterday following a decline in the number of evacuees to 4,686 from 5,679 people as of noon.

These relief centres are at Samarahan (Kampung Seruyuk Mosque, Sadong Jaya PBB Resource Centre and Community Hall) and Serian (Kedup 2 Salcra Hall).

A spokesman from the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said 27 relief centres at Samarahan, Serian, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Mukah and Limbang were still opened.

“Samarahan has 396 evacuees in four relief centres, Serian 1,201 evacuees (seven relief centres), Sarikei eight evacuees (one relief centre), Sibu 1,028 evacuees (four relief centres), Mukah 89 evacuees (two relief centres), Bintulu 1,508 evacuees  (five relief centres) and Limbang, 456.
