PAITAN, Sabah: Four units of Starlink satellite internet service were handed over to the district office here to help restore communication access in several areas recently affected by severe flooding.

Sabah Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk James Ratib, said that the facility was provided by Sabah Net Sdn Bhd (SabahNet), an agency under his ministry, as an immediate step to ensure that communication access in the affected areas could be restored.

“This initiative aims to facilitate the coordination of aid, information dissemination, and support disaster management operations and post-flood recovery.

“The internet satellite facility was handed over to Paitan district officer Joloning Joe Majambu for coordination and placement in locations identified as needing immediate internet access,” he said in a statement here today.

According to James, it is hoped that the facility can expedite the recovery process and ensure that the welfare and well-being of the affected people continue to receive attention. – BERNAMA
