KOTA SAMARAHAN: A four-year-old girl was killed while her father was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Al Muttaqin here yesterday (Nov 4).
The fatal crash happened at around 8 am and involved a Nissan lorry driven by a 40-year-old man and a Yamaha Lagenda 115 motorcycle ridden by the victims.
Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said investigations found that the lorry had stopped his vehicle by the roadside when the motorcycle, ridden by a 38-year-old FoodPanda delivery rider, crashed into the rear of the lorry.
“The impact threw the rider’s four-year-old daughter, who was riding pillion, forward onto the road.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.05 am and her body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for post-mortem,” he said.
Meanwhile, her father sustained serious facial injuries and was rushed to SGH for immediate treatment.
The lorry driver escaped unharmed.
Damataries said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
