France explores collaboration with ACCCIS

KUCHING: A three-member delegation from the Embassy of France in Malaysia paid an official visit to the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) yesterday to explore potential avenues for collaboration and investment.

The delegation comprised Economic Counsellor, Michel Cywinski; Deputy Economic Counsellor; Bouthaina Harfi; and Political Adviser, Bertrand Pinard-Legry..

The session was chaired by ACCCIS Secretary-General, Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok.

During the meeting, Chai provided an overview of ACCCIS’ organisational structure and highlighted the composition and strengths of local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

“Sarawak is focused on fostering growth in green energy, digital economy, infrastructure, tourism, technical and vocational education, heavy industries, telecommunications, and retail,” he said, detailing Sarawak’s key development priorities.

“These areas offer numerous opportunities for collaboration and investment, and we are keen to welcome international partners to participate in our state’s development journey.”

Both parties engaged in discussions on potential areas of collaboration, including investment opportunities, technology transfer, talent development, cooperation in high-tech and green industries, and business matching.

Sarawak and French enterprises are highly complementary across various sectors, offering significant potential for future partnerships.

The French delegation expressed strong interest in Sarawak’s business environment and development prospects, and conveyed their intention to strengthen engagement with ACCCIS and local enterprises.

ACCCIS welcomed French companies to explore the Sarawak market further and reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating exchanges, partnerships and mutually beneficial initiatives to support the state’s continued economic growth.

Also present were ACCCIS President, Kong Chiong Ung; Vice-President, Datuk Tan Jit Kee; Deputy Secretary-General, Yek Hock Siang; Chairman of the Commerce Committee, Dennis Chin Ching Chung; Deputy Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, Su Chua Phin; Deputy Secretary-General of KCGCCI, Kho Swee Aik; and Senior Analyst-Investment from InvestSarawak, Shannon Tan.
