KUCHING: In a proactive effort to promote public health awareness, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) is offering free Lung and Liver Cancer Risk Screening to the first 200 premium package participants of the Jom Sihat Carnival 2025, an event organised by the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia Sarawak.
The carnival, held under the “One District, One Program” initiative, is set to take place on August 24 at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Foyer. The free screenings will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
“This is a golden opportunity for the public to access cancer risk screening services and at the same time participate in a fun, health-focused event for all ages,” said the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia Sarawak in a statement yesterday.
In addition to the cancer screening, the carnival will feature a variety of side events, including a blood donation campaign, general health screening, a 3KM Fun Run, Zumba session, lucky draw, and various stalls offering food, beverages, and merchandise.
“Participants will also stand a chance to win luxury prizes during the lucky draw, with highlights such as a 65-inch TV, Samsung smartphone, accommodation voucher from Roxy Beach Resort Sematan, electrical appliances, and hampers,” it said.
The event will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan. Other notable guests include Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism), Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, and MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
