SIBU: Senior citizens aged 60 and above who suffer from certain chronic illnesses can receive a free influenza immunisation shot at selected health clinics here.
The Sibu Divisional Health Office said that the free influenza immunisation programme aims to protect high-risk individuals from influenza infections that could lead to serious complications.
“The programme is open to senior citizens with any of the following conditions: diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic cardiovascular diseases, obesity (BMI >30 kg/m²), hypertension, high cholesterol (dyslipidemia), and kidney disease,” it said in a Facebook post.
Registration for this programme can only be made through the MySejahtera application, with appointment bookings opening on Feb 18.
Vaccinations will be provided at selected health clinics according to the following schedule:
Sibu District:
- Jalan Oya Health Clinic – every Tuesday and Thursday (except public holidays)
- Jalan Lanang Health Clinic – every Tuesday and Thursday (except public holidays)
- Sibu Jaya Health Clinic – every Monday to Friday (except public holidays)
Kanowit District:
- Machan Health Clinic – every Tuesday and Wednesday (except public holidays)
Selangau District:
- Selangau Health Clinic – every Friday (except public holidays)
“The Sibu Divisional Health Office emphasises that this programme operates strictly by appointment via MySejahtera and does not accept walk-ins without prior booking.
“Eligible residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their health protection,” it added.
