KUCHING: A total of 100 helmets and 1,000 portions of bubur lambuk were presented to members of the public at a community welfare programme held on Saturday evening (Feb 28) in conjunction with the Ramadan fasting month.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, led the distribution at the Ulu Bintawa Petronas Station.

The initiative was jointly organised by Petronas, Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) and Yayasan Kebajikan Negara Malaysia, reflecting a collaborative effort between the corporate sector and national welfare bodies to support the community during Ramadan.
Nancy said that road safety was at the heart of the helmet distribution
“The programme will benefit the youths who are unable to afford helmets on their own, as well as elderly residents from surrounding rural villages for whom such assistance is greatly welcomed,” she said to the media after the programme ended.
In keeping with the Ramadan spirit, the distribution of bubur lambuk along with dates and other gifts added a festive and communal warmth to the occasion.
She commended all organising parties for going beyond a routine corporate contribution, describing the initiative as a meaningful act of giving during Ramadan.
She expressed her hope that similar programmes could be extended to other areas across the state, ensuring that more Malaysians benefit from access to road safety equipment and community support in the future.
