MIRI: A family of four in Kampung Pasir Lutong here thought they could enjoy a late night programme on television but a three-metre reticulated python had other plans.

The python weighing some 8-kg slipped through the ceiling of their living room and landed on the floor last night (Jan 8).

The terrified family immediately informed the Miri Civil Defence personnel (APM) at 11.09pm.

A rescue team arrived at the scene and captured the reptile, to the relief of the family.

Miri APM officer-in-charge Lt Mirwan Shah Masri said the family was in the living room watching television when the house owner and his 32 year-old wife noticed ‘something’ huge slipping down through the ceiling.

The reptile was later released in the natural habitat.
