KUCHING: In a small room in Shah Alam, what began as a childhood fascination with colourful trading cards has blossomed into a record-breaking story of passion, patience, and persistence.
For Damiral Imran, that passion recently paid off in spectacular fashion when he sold his entire Pokémon card collection for a staggering RM1.87 million — a deal that instantly went viral across social media.
A photo from the Penangite’s Facebook post tells the story better than words: boxes upon boxes of neatly arranged Pokémon cards stacked high against the wall, a shrine to years of dedication. Each card, each pack, represents a small chapter in a much larger journey.
“This is more than a sale — it’s a story of passion, hard work, and legacy,” wrote the collector in his viral post.
“From a small room in Shah Alam to making history in the Pokémon world.”
The sale didn’t just turn heads for its price tag. Damiral revealed that he was once open to trading the collection for a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S plus RM1 million in cash — a statement that drew both awe and amusement from fellow collectors.

But beyond the big numbers, Damiral made it clear this was never just about money.
“From passion to legacy, this marks one of the biggest moments in my journey. Every card, every box, every sleepless night … all worth it.
“This isn’t the end; it’s just the beginning,” he said, thanking his supporters.
Since debuting in Japan in 1996, Pokémon cards have grown from simple childhood collectibles into a global phenomenon, with rare editions fetching eye-watering prices at international auctions.
For Damiral, though, it’s not about fortune or fame — it’s about proving how far a dream born in a small Shah Alam room can go.
