KUCHING: A furniture factory along Jalan Taman Kota Padawan, Batu 11, sustained minor damage after a fire broke out on Tuesday night (Nov 11).
About 15 per cent of the factory was damaged in the incident. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call at 8.08 pm on the incident at Shung Hock Enterprise.
Firefighters from the Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, with assistance from the Kota Sentosa and Tabuan Jaya stations.
The first team which arrived at 8.27 pm found that the blaze involved a semi-permanent structure used to make wooden furniture.
Firefighters carried out extinguishing efforts using two 200-foot relay hose lines connected to a nearby fire hydrant.
The fire was brought under control by 8.47 pm, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the building.
