KUCHING: Quality Concrete Holdings Bhd has secured its second major Sarawak infrastructure contract within a week, adding a RM91.5 million road project to its order book.

Its subsidiary, QC Construction & Engineering Sdn Bhd (QCCE), on Monday (Dec 8) accepted a RM91.48 million award from the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) for Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) Package 1 — road works in Bukit Goram, Katibas, Ngemah and Mechan. The 24-month contract begins in January 2026, the company said in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

This follows a RM294.6 million contract QCCE received on Dec 5 from the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department for the proposed Mukah water supply system project. That contract spans 30 months, also starting next month.

Quality Concrete said both projects will be financed through internally generated funds and bank borrowings, and are expected to “contribute positively to the group’s earnings and net assets during the duration of the contract periods”.

For the first six months of the current financial year, the group posted a widened net loss of RM4.66 million compared with RM1 million a year earlier, despite higher revenue of RM80.3 million versus RM77 million, as earlier construction projects near completion.

The construction division’s revenue fell to RM25.4 million from RM29.6 million. “This reduction was primarily attributed to diminishing contributions from ongoing projects that are nearing completion as well as delays in the commencement of several new projects,” said the company.

The group’s operations also include state road maintenance, pipe and ready-mixed concrete manufacturing, and property development.
