KUCHING: Gabriel Palmero has officially joined Kuching City FC, ending weeks of speculation fuelled by netizens who tracked his movements and social media activity in a bid to confirm his arrival.
Rumours of Palmero’s move gathered pace after fans noticed his interactions with local players online and posts hinting at a switch to Malaysia. Photos believed to show the player in Kuching further strengthened the belief that a deal was close.
The speculation peaked as supporters shared flight sightings and training-related images, turning the transfer into one of the most closely followed developments involving the Cats in recent weeks.
Kuching City FC’s confirmation has now validated much of the online sleuthing, with Palmero added to the squad as preparations continue for the upcoming Malaysia League season.
“Here we go! Gabriel Palmero is Kuching City.
“Kitakorg tok nang penauk ohhhh, coba la tunggu page announce dolok. Hmmmm,” said Kuching City FC in a recent statement.
His arrival is expected to bolster the team’s options in the defensive line as the club looks to improve on last season’s campaign.
He last played for third division Spanish club Unionistas on a loan move from Tenerife.
