MIRI: The 15th edition of Gala M.O Sarawak will take place on Sept 13 at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, coinciding with Miri’s 20th anniversary as a city.

Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said the event’s return to this city is especially meaningful this year, as the city celebrates two decades since its elevation to city status.

Yii speaks at the press conference

He said Miri, being the only resort city in Sarawak, continues to shine as a hub for tourism, culture, and world-class events.

“Holding the Gala in Miri is timely and adds to the excitement of our city’s anniversary celebration.

“It is more than just a social event – it also acts as a catalyst for the development of the state’s tourism and creative industries,” he said during a special press conference held at Mercure Miri City Centre on Saturday (Jul 12).

According to Yii, the Gala M.O Sarawak, first introduced in 2010, has grown into one of Sarawak’s most anticipated social and cultural events, not only for its role in showcasing local talents but also for celebrating diversity, beauty, creativity, and unity among communities.

He also shared the Gala’s vision and mission as a platform to empower youth talent, preserve local cultural heritage, and support Sarawak’s creative tourism sector.

Yii expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, as well as all sponsors and strategic partners, for their continuous support in ensuring the success and sustainability of the event.

The press conference also featured the official introduction of five out of 10 finalists for The Face M.O Sarawak 2025, who are expected to become new icons in the state’s fashion, beauty, and performing arts scene.
