SIBU: An early morning blaze destroyed one car parked in the garage of a house at Lorong Lilin 4 here today (Oct 29).
Zone 4 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Andy Alie said they received a distress call at 5.35 am and deployed firefighters from Sungai Merah station, about 4km away, to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found a Honda City completely engulfed in flames, while a Proton Saga was partially destroyed.
“The team used water from a nearby fire hydrant to extinguish the blaze, which destroyed the Honda City and caused about 40 per cent damaged to the Proton Saga,” he said in a statement.
In addition, the fire also caused five per cent damage to the house, affecting the garage, glass door, and walls.
Once the situation was deemed safe with no risk of reignition, the team ended the operation at 6.14 am.
Andy added that the cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
