KUCHING: The Gawai Dayak celebration organised by the Sarawak Premier’s Department (JPS) was held today (June 17) under the theme “Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) One Team.”

Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik said the Gawai Dayak celebration is a time for joy, reflection, and strengthening unity—a moment where family, friends, and loved ones gather in gratitude and togetherness.

“Within JPS, ‘SCS One Team’ is more than just a slogan—it represents the idea of ‘One Family,’ which reflects our way of life as envisioned by the State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

“Today’s Gawai celebration embodies this spirit of unity, where we come together as one big family to honor the culture, traditions, and values of the Dayak community,” he said during the launching of the celebration held at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Complex (DUN) here.

The ceremony was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

During the event, a total of 163 students from the B40 (low-income) group at SK St Francis Xavier, Kampung Seratau, Padawan received school bags and basic stationery supplies, distributed under JPS’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
