KUCHING: The Gawai Dayak celebration at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) was a success with communities of different races, and religions converging here to showcase Sarawak’s unity.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this exemplified the rich culture and heritage among the people.
“We really achieved our objective to show that Gawai is a time for us to tie our friendship among the Dayak themselves, all the other races, and other religions.
“Sarawak is really known for its religious and racial harmony, and this is one of the ways for us to flourish this racial harmony.
“Therefore, during this festive season, I’m calling upon the Dayak community to not wait and play their part in helping Sarawak develop alongside our visionary Premier and bring benefit to Sarawak’s future,” he said.
He said this when met by the media during the Gawai Dayak Open House at BCCK here today.
Following this, Uggah pledged full support to the leadership of the Premier whom had brought development of Sarawak, benefitting the Dayak community.
“As you know, there are nine regional development agencies established and a lot of which benefit our Dayak community.
“This is indeed a historic era for us,” he lauded.
