KUCHING: Agoda’s survey indicates that Malaysian Gen Z travellers (aged 18-27) are reshaping how travel decisions are made.

In a statement, Agoda disclosed that its latest Gen Z Travel Survey reveals TikTok as the leading source of inspiration for this tech-savvy generation, with nearly one-third (30 per cent) citing it as their go-to platform.

According to the survey, TikTok is followed by travel apps, such as the Agoda mobile app, at 15 per cent.

“Recommendations from friends or family account for 14 per cent of travel inspiration. In contrast, those aged 44-59 rely more on Google, with 23 per cent using web search as their primary source of inspiration,” it said.

Furthermore, the survey highlights that 34 per cent of Malaysian Gen Z travellers prefer traveling with a partner, while almost a quarter (24 per cent) enjoy family trips, and 19 per cent primarily travel with a group of friends.

It also noted that beaches and islands are the most sought-after destinations, capturing 30 per cent of the votes.
