DORTMUND (Germany): A man has been detained in western Germany after allegedly throwing his 2-year-old child out of a window, police said on Monday, German news agency (dpa) reported.
The incident occurred in the small town of Netphen, east of Cologne, early on Saturday morning.
The child was brought to hospital with severe injuries and was being treated in an intensive station, police said.
The 31-year-old man is being investigated on charges of attempted homicide.
He is strongly suspected of having deliberately thrown the child out of the window, the police statement added.
The police and emergency services were called to a communal accommodation centre where the incident took place at around 2 am (0000 GMT) on Sunday morning.
The suspect was detained on site without resisting and has since been remanded in custody.
The investigators did not initially provide any further details on the background to the incident.
