KUCHING: Gideon Riquelme Jonathan, 22, is set to make his professional debut on March 29 when he faces Australia’s Lucas Jhon Holmes in an exciting middleweight bout at Bangkok’s renowned World Siam Stadium.
Sarawak continues to produce exceptional boxing talents, and while Gideon may not yet be a household name, he is emerging as the next rising star of the sport.
“This fight means everything to me—it’s the start of my professional boxing career,” Gideon shared with Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.
“I feel truly privileged to be given the opportunity to fight at the World Siam Stadium in Thailand,” he added.
Gideon has been putting in the hard work, knowing that every ounce of effort is vital for this pivotal challenge.
“Training camp is going really well. I’m focused and ready to give my absolute best for this fight,” he said.
When it comes to his opponent, Gideon acknowledges that Holmes’ height and reach could pose significant challenges.
“His biggest strength might be his height and the distance (arm reach), but I’m prepared to adapt to whatever he brings to the ring,” he said for the contest at the Global War: The Boxing Showdown undercard in Bangkok.
