KUCHING: In a heartwarming outreach effort, the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Society of SJKC Chung Hua No. 5, Stampin Branch brought smiles to patients at Hospital Sentosa through a special community service initiative on Thursday.
Led by senior assistant of Co-curriculum Vun Huey Ni and branch chairman Chew Kim Soon, the team visited the psychiatric facility bearing thoughtful gifts for each patient.
The initiative aimed to offer comfort and joy to those undergoing treatment.
Each gift was carefully prepared as a token of love and solidarity, in line with the Red Crescent’s commitment to humanitarian service and student engagement.
Vun emphasised that the programme was designed not only to support patients, but also to instil values of compassion, empathy and civic responsibility among the school’s students.
“We want our students to grow not just academically, but also as caring members of society,” she said.
The visit marks another meaningful chapter in the school’s ongoing efforts to nurture socially conscious youth through co-curricular activities.
The unit also expressed appreciation to headmistress Tay Kok Ing, as well as the teachers, parents and students who supported the initiative.
Hospital Sentosa is a specialist mental health facility in Kuching, and outreach programmes like this contribute to community awareness and support for mental well-being.
