THE Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) is currently managing a total of 391 development projects.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said 60 per cent of these projects are infrastructure-related, followed by utilities and telecommunications (16 per cent), social development (13 per cent), agriculture (6 per cent), and economic and tourism initiatives (5 per cent).
“These figures reflect GKCDA’s strong commitment to fostering a balanced and inclusive development across the Greater Kuching region,” he said.
He said this in his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today (May 26).

Sagah added the agency’s focus is on five key areas namely infrastructure development, utility and telecommunication services, agriculture, economic and tourism growth, and social development.
“The agency’s primary aim is to improve the lives of people within its jurisdiction through well-planned and targeted development initiatives.
“What makes GKCDA unique is its bottom-up approach, which actively involves local leaders, community representatives, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in identifying and planning development projects.
“GKCDA oversees development in the Greater Kuching area, covering Kuching and Serian divisions, comprising Lundu, Bau, Siburan, Serian, and Tebedu districts,” said Sagah.
