SIBU: The General Operations Force (GOF) here seized frozen food products and duty-not-paid cigarettes worth RM10.25 million in separate raids on Monday (Mar 10).
Sarawak GOF Brigade Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the first raid, which took place at 10.10 am, resulted in the arrest of two local men and a woman, aged between 36 and 65.
The operation, conducted by the GOF Brigade’s intelligence branch, GOF 10th Battalion and Sibu Veterinary Services Department, targeted premises suspected of storing various frozen food products without a valid permit.
“Further checks uncovered 25,039kg of frozen chicken and 350kg of frozen beef inside the premises – all of which are valued at RM2,339,974, according to market price.


“In addition, the team also seized two containers, two forklifts, three lorries and a van from the premises,” he said in a statement.
Che Ghazali added that the suspects and seizures were handed over to the Sibu Veterinary Services Department for further investigation under the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
Meanwhile, in the second raid at 5.30pm, the GOF Brigade’s intelligence branch, GOF 10th Battalion uncovered a warehouse turned into a storage facility for duty-not-paid cigarettes.
In the operation, the team seized a total of 18,000 cartons of various cigarette brands with a market value of RM7,920,000.
He stated that the seizures were handed over to the district police headquarters (IPD) for further action. The case is being investigated under the Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
