KUCHING: The state government is relooking the shelved Light Rail Transit (LRT) project and will partially implement it for the Kuching-Kota Samarahan route, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said.

He said the government has initiated an in-depth study into the proposed project due to the high demand from people travelling between Kuching and Kota Samarahan.

Johari said the initial study had been completed when the project was first mooted earlier this year.

However, another study needed to be done for the Kuching-Kota Samarahan portion, and the study had started.

“We are looking into it (scaled-down version) as the project for the Kuching-Kota Samarahan route was asked by Kota Samarahan folk,” he told reporters at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here yesterday.
