BINTULU: State government policies and development initiatives must be delivered directly to the grassroots to ensure every layer of society understands and benefits from them.

Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, the chief political secretary to the Premier, said that although various policies and assistance have been introduced by the state government, these efforts would not achieve their full objectives if the people in longhouses, villages, and residential areas are not given sufficient explanation.

“The Premier has implemented many initiatives and assistance programmes that have had a significant impact on the people.

“However, if this information does not reach the grassroots, it will not be fully effective. Our responsibility is to bring this information directly to the people.”

Fazzrudin was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Briefing and Explanation on Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), officiated by Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development and Samalaju assemblyman Datuk Majang Renggi on Sunday (Aug 24).

According to him, a ground-level approach in collaboration with relevant agencies enables the public to better understand government policies, while also becoming aware of the opportunities and assistance available in welfare, education, employment, and infrastructure development.

He added that active participation from the community in listening, understanding, and sharing the information provided is crucial to ensure that every household benefits from the development programmes currently being implemented throughout Sarawak.

“We want the people not only to hear about the government’s achievements through the media but also to receive direct explanations on how they can access the opportunities and initiatives provided.”

Fazzrudin expressed confidence that with cooperation from all parties, efforts to deliver government policies to the grassroots will ensure greater well-being for the people and contribute to Sarawak becoming a developed and prosperous state by 2030.
