KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, are in Brunei to attend the 79th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.

Their arrival at Brunei International Airport at 3.25 pm this afternoon marked the start of a two-day official visit to Brunei Darussalam.

According to a statement from Astana Negeri Sarawak, the visit was made at the invitation of Sultan Hassanal in conjunction with the royal birthday celebration taking place tomorrow.

Earlier, accompanying Wan Junaidi and his wife were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife, Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.

Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Brunei’s Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Datuk Awang Badaruddin Awang Othman; Royal Brunei Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Pahlawan Awang Sulaiman Alidin; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Datuk Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bolhassan; and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Awang Muhammad Ibrahim.

Wan Junaidi later graciously inspected the Guard of Honour led by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces before proceeding to the official residence.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also extended their prayers for the continued well-being, happiness and longevity of Sultan Hassanal.
